Alternative Rules

Since we released The Dick Sits, we’ve had lots of feedback from fans about how they would change the game to make it more fun for their groups – we love this! We believe that you should all be playing your games the way you want to play them and so we’re thrilled to be able to share some of our favorite alternative rules.

Competitive Ending

End the game when a player reaches a specified number of successful Dick Sits.
Recommended goal: 6 for 2-4 players, 5 for 5-6 players & 4 for 7-8 players.

By choosing a goal number of Dicks to sit on changes the second half of the game and encourages a lot of push-pull competition.

Mostly used to reduce the length of the game, note that if the goal is set too high then games can last a long time and struggle to finish due to everyone blocking each other.

Semi-Secret Reveal

The current player may look at the dice before passing the box / tower on to the next player.

By allowing the current player to know the dice result, they can use their own drawer cards more effectively and other players can read the player’s behaviour to also improve their own strategy.

This will slow down gameplay a little as fewer drawer cards will end up being used, but the result will trade a little luck for a bit more strategy.

Increasing Dickficulty

Before starting, sort the Dick Deck into 3 piles based on Dickficulty: 1-3, 4-6, 7-9.

Shuffle each of these decks individually to create 3 Dick Decks to draw from.

Players must draw from the deck that matches their current Stretch Value.

This provides a more standardised version of the game, although it does remove some of the variance (highs and lows).

We like this approach, but it’s probably worth determining a modified scoring system to value higher dickficulty cards more to make levelling up worth it.

Are there any others?

Have you tried any of these variations?

Have you got your own homebrew rules you’ve cooked up that work for you and your group?

We’d love to hear from you!
